January Fragments – Fleeting Thoughts

Every morning, I wake up and jot down a few thoughts in my journal. Sometimes trivial, sometimes profound, they stem from a moment lived or the memory of a past experience. Then, on a sticky note, I distill the essence of my reflection into a few phrases: “fragments”.
I had already shared those from November and December. Here are my January fragments. May they find you in the best of spirits. May this year bring you the best of the best and a glimmer of light even in the shadows.

January’s Fragments:

📌 1. Every year carries within it the old soul that judges and the child that dreams. A nostalgia and a hope. A fatalistic lucidity and a fantastic madness.

📌 2. Dear God, may this year be soft and light. This is the prayer of those who refuse to grow up. Dear God, may I adapt to this life—sometimes harsh, sometimes sad, often indifferent. May I find joy, even in adversity.

📌 3. Man carries an eternal ambivalence.

📌 4. I believe in good faith, in willpower, and in progress.

📌 5. I carry within me a promise, a treasure, an invisible victory destined one day to burst into the full light of the visible world.

📌 6. Life is made of encounters—often fleeting and trivial, sometimes profound and life-changing. Solène, Celino, Amandine, and Annie, thank you.

📌 7. I seize what there is to seize: happiness and the desire to live.

📌 8. Sometimes I try to act. Sometimes I try not to act. And that, in itself, is a merit.

📌 9. The hardest part is not being born poor but ceasing to be rich and embracing poverty. A poor man naturally ignores what he lacks. A rich man possesses and enjoys without even thinking about it. We suffer from what we have known. We desire what we can dream of and hope to attain.

📌 10. Life does not always speak to us clearly. Intuition is unreliable—it carries a mystery that makes it elusive.

📌 11. Life is a matter of balance. No matter how profitable a temporary imbalance may seem, we will eventually suffer from it or pay the price.

📌 12. Being in love is beautiful. But the real freedom comes from clearing one’s mind after heartbreak. Thinking of oneself without thinking of the other. Envisioning life without the invisible barriers of desire. It’s an opportunity to become everything we could be.

📌 13. Perseverance is often the last key that unlocks the door.

📌 14. The richness of human nature lies in its ability to change, adapt, negotiate, and compromise.

📌 15. Destiny is made of peace and fears, of promises of a beautiful life and the anxiety of falling while chasing it. Nothing is more uncertain than destiny. Nothing is more beautiful and terrifying than a future where anything can happen.

📌 16. Restlessness is inherent to those in search of meaning.

📌 17. Learning to love oneself is life’s greatest challenge and the most precious gift one can receive from the heavens.

📌 18. Some days, life drifts, traveling without anchoring itself to anything stable. Moments to embrace. Moments to build or to destroy forever.

📌 19. Life takes us everywhere, across the universe, with a universal promise: to carve out a unique space for ourselves—our identity.

📌 20. One does not easily change their temperament. But for a friend, one softens it. We don’t excuse our nature; we learn to apologize for the harm it may have caused.

📌 21. Life is made of outstretched hands and misunderstandings.

📌 22. Life is not just what we think of it. It is also what others think of it. Complex and multifaceted, it is both simple and incomprehensible.

📌 23. Sometimes, I wonder if romantic instinct truly exists or if it is merely a deep-rooted social expectation designed to ensure the maintenance of family ties.

📌 24. It is not always easy to decipher meaning in a life that pierces through us, leaving us struggling to move forward without shedding a tear of confusion.

📌 25. Life is an enigma. The strength it gives to the destitute. The faith it breathes into the wounded. The unwavering love it distills so that we keep moving— even when broken, even when grieving, even when stripped of everything.

📌 26. It is an extraordinary privilege to never give up on oneself, to believe that it is always possible to rediscover who we are. At 30, at 60, at 99. We can love ourselves at any age—or at least never stop trying.

📌 27. A social life is a successful one only if we enjoy living it rather than enduring it.

📌 28. The world is so beautiful. Friendship is precious when it grants us a freedom that love often tramples on. A true friendship does not invade, does not betray. It embraces.

📌 29. Willpower and motivation alone are not enough. The environment plays a crucial role. I would even say it is the “sine qua non” condition.

📌 30.Confidence gives off a certain charm, that invisible beauty we often call a je ne sais quoi. I have met people with this undefinable something. And it was beautiful.

📌 31. Life is change. Growing is changing. A well-lived life is one that has known how to evolve when needed. A happy life is one that, despite its changes, has found the best—both in painful circumstances and in joyful experiences.
